FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metering equipment and can be used at railway vehicles for contactless measurement of wheels profile with the help of mobile laser triangulation transducers. Proposed device comprises at least five mobile laser triangulation transducers 3-7 of which: 1st, 2nd and 3rd generate parallel probing rays. Note here that 3rd, 4th and 5th transducers are relatively arranged to define center of gravity of the wheel. Invention covers also the method of railway wheel profile measurement incorporating the algorithm to correct actual magnitudes of measured profiles with allowance for arbitrary orientation of said transducers.
