FIELD: measuring technique.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises irradiating the surface of the object with flat probing laser beam, forming the probing line on the surface, recording the reflected light radiation in the plane of image, determining the distance to the probing line, and obtaining information on the object shape. The plane of probing laser beam is oriented so that its projection on the surface of the object defines an angle with the plane perpendicular to the plane of triangulation clockwise or counterclockwise. The plane of the image is inclined at an angle to the plane of triangulation clockwise or counterclockwise. The angle is determined from the equation presented. The device comprises light source, cylindrical lens, focusing lens, photodetector mounted in the plane of image and specially oriented in the plane of triangulation, and unit for processing information. The cylindrical lens is made for permitting rotation of the plane of the laser beam with respect to the plane perpendicular to the triangulation plane. The photodetector is mounted for permitting inclination of its plane to the initial position.
EFFECT: enhanced precision.
