FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: invention is based on sharing a received signal processing channel with limitation of the amplitude of the signal and a linear channel, i.e. a channel without limitation of the amplitude of the received signal. Said technical result is achieved due to that the disclosed method involves compressing the signal in a first compression filter after limiting the received signal, comparing the level of the compressed signal with a first threshold, compressing the received signal in a second compression filter and comparing the level of the compressed signal with a second threshold, making a decision on target detection if both thresholds have been exceeded. The device which realises said method includes: a limiting channel which includes series-connected limiter, first compression filter and first threshold device; a linear channel which includes series-connected second compression filter and second threshold device; an "and" coincidence circuit, wherein the input of the limiter and the input of the second compression filter are connected and are the input of the device; the output of the first threshold device is connected to the first input of the "and" coincidence circuit and the output of the second threshold device of the channel is connected to the second input of the "and" coincidence circuit, the output of which is the output of the device.

EFFECT: providing the required level of false alarm probability in conditions of pulse interference while enabling detection of group targets.
