SUBSTANCE: in the disclosed image forming device which separates a thin recording material by raising a transfer belt, if the position where a thick recording material is separated from the transfer belt is situated far from the leading end of the guide of the recording material, movability of the separated thick recording material after separation becomes stable. A tension element is provided further from the raising means and before the guide of the recording material in the direction of movement of the recording material and the tension element separates the thick recording material from the transfer belt.

EFFECT: providing an image forming device which separates thin recording material from the transfer belt and separates thick recording material from the transfer belt at different positions and seeks to stabilise movability of the thin recording material after separation and stabilise movability after separation of the thick recording material, separated from an element other than the element for separating the thin recording material.
