FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of making photocathodes involves growing a thin coating on a substrate surface, both homogeneous and combined, by pulsed laser spraying of thin films, providing interaction of the laser beam with a target, absorption of electromagnetic energy, removing heat from the target, spraying target material, evaporation, multiphoton ionisation, plasma formation, plasma glow, inverse braking radiation, expanding the plasma cloud, including the target material, which is carried out at initial plasma temperature in the cloud in the range of 5000-15000 K. Also described is a version of the method of making a photocathode and versions of apparatus for implementing said method.
EFFECT: simple method of making a photocathode, providing high repeatability of results, high quantum efficiency.
