SUBSTANCE: image processing device comprises: a section for calculating the selected size of generated codes, which encodes an input image by at least quantisation of simple encoded data obtained by simple encoding of the input image by simple processing using quantisation steps based on selected quantisation factors, discretely selected from quantisation factors, and calculates the size of generated codes of the input image during encoding; an error correction section which corrects errors in the size of generated codes of the input image during encoding, which occurs in accordance with simple processing; and a section for calculating the interpolated size of the generated codes, which calculates the size of the generated codes when the input image is encoded based on quantisation parameters other than the selected quantisation parameters via an interpolation process with respect to the size of the generated codes, when the input image is encoded based on the selected quantisation factors.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of the size of generated codes.
