FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be applied in chemical industry. Method of obtaining sodium sulfate includes interaction of waste sulfuric acid (WSA) - waste of olefin isobutene alkylation with 10-15% solution of sodium hydroxide. Preliminarily spent sulfuric acid is mixed with organic extractant, taken in weight ratio sulfuric acid: extractant = 1:1. As ectractant mixture of ethyl alcohol and tetrahydrofuran with weight ratio 1:1 is applied. Process of interaction is carried out at temperature 50-75°C to until pH of reaction mass reaches 7-8. After that, upper organic layer is separated, and lower water layer is evaporated, crystals of sodium sulfate are dried with obtaining target product.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to extend raw material base of sodium sulfate production with obtaining high quality product with low content of residual quantity of organic substances.
