FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminary determination of the thickness of the sublimated layer of material and removal thereof, attaching an exploded foil to the test sample and non-uniform contact heating of the material with an electric heater, discharging an electric current pulse through the electroconductive foil which results in explosion of the foil and loading the sample with a mechanical pressure pulse from the explosion shock wave. The method further involves determining and removing the layer of material, equal to the thickness of front flakes, as well as bulk heating of the sample material with EHF radiation and surface heating with an electric heater.

EFFECT: enabling reproduction of the real picture of thermomechanical effect of X-ray radiation of a nuclear explosion on samples of structural materials.
