FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technique for simulating a mechanical pressure pulse of X-ray radiation of a nuclear explosion by means of an electrical explosion of a conductive foil layer installed on a test barrier, and can be used to determine the nature of deformation of modern structural materials of aerospace equipment when testing for strength to surface heating and external pressure pulse. Adhesive foil is fixed on the test sample, the foil is connected to a power-controlled electric heater, subsequent synchronized electric discharge is carried out, which leads to explosion of foil with a delay relative to heating, which is equal to the time required for establishing the required temperature profile in the sample material, and loading the sample with a mechanical pressure pulse from an explosive shock wave.
EFFECT: broader capabilities of reproducing combined thermal action of aerodynamic heating and mechanical pressure pulse of X-ray radiation.
