FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine shock-wave processes in various media and the nature of deformation of modern structural materials for various purposes when testing for strength to the effect of a surface pressure pulse. Method for electric explosion of foil on obstacles of complex configuration includes placing foil on loaded sample and electric discharge through electroconductive foil, characterized in that explosive electroconductive foil is cut and fixed on tested sample, wherein the foil is placed on the surface of the test sample and on the dielectric frame additionally fixed on the test sample, dimensions of which are selected based on the conditions for ensuring equality of the cross-section of the electroconductive foil in all transverse planes of the loaded sample, to ensure the same transverse profile of the foil along the current path, discharge is carried out through an electroconductive foil of an electric current pulse, which leads to an explosion of the foil and loading of the test sample with a mechanical pressure pulse from an explosive shock wave.
EFFECT: invention provides testing by mechanical pressure pulse generated during electric explosion of foil, obstacles with complex configuration and removing restrictions on configuration of loaded obstacle.
