EFFECT: SUBSTANCE: for pressing of pellets they use a mixture of uranium dioxide powder prepared in accordance with one of available technologies with specific surface of particles of 2.0-2.2 m/g, ultradispersed powder UO2 with specific surface of 10.5-11 m2/g, and nanocrystalline powders of oxides Gd2O3, TiO2, Nb2O5, Al2O3, Cr2O3 Content of the ultradispersed powder UO2 in the mixture is 5-10 wt %, nanocrystalline oxide powders Gd2O3 - 3-5 wt %, other oxides - 0.02-0.1 wt % Such fuel considerably excels the standard one by the index of average grain size (25-60 mcm instead of 10-20 mcm).

EFFECT: increased depth of fuel burning during its operation due to increased grain of fuel pellets, improvement of its process and operating properties due to increased plasticity, and higher reliability of operation of fuel elements
