FIELD: nuclear industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear industry, particularly, to production of ceramic nuclear fuel for fuel elements. Method of producing nuclear fuel pellets with a burnable absorber involves preparation of an oxide-oxide with a burnable absorber, preparation of a press powder, pressing, sintering and grinding. Combustible absorber used is gadolinium hydroxy-carbonate Gd(OH)CO3⋅xH2O (or Gd(CO3)3⋅xH2O).

EFFECT: invention enables to increase the oxygen coefficient (ratio of the number of oxygen atoms which are valency bonded to uranium to the number of uranium atoms) in fuel pellets, which increases heat conductivity and reduces deformation of fuel pellets in the nuclear reactor.
