FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves combining acid mineralisation of a sample at a sample preparation step with subsequent voltammetric determination of Ni2+ in a there-electrode cell: indicator electrode - silver substrate, modified with aryldiazonium tosylate with an amino group as a substitute, auxiliary and comparison electrode - silver chloride electrodes. Accumulation of Ni2+ in the mixed solution takes place in 30 s at electrolysis potential of minus 0.7±0.05 V on the background of an ammonium chloride buffer solution with addition of 0.03 cm3 of 0.1 mol/dm dimethylglyoxime, without removing dissolved oxygen from the electrolyte, followed by detection of cathode peaks in differential-pulse mode at potential sweep rate of 20 mV/s. Concentration of nickel is determined from the peak height in potential range from minus (1.00±0.05) V by standard addition method.

EFFECT: use of non-toxic organo-modified electrodes to determine nickel by cathode stripping voltammetry in the presence of dissolved oxygen.
