FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: method of directional energy exchange between power grids of municipal services and urban electric railway consists in that at sites with high (low) voltage in transport grid mechanical switches of branch lines at high-voltage side of communal main transformer substations are set to low (high) output voltage thus forcing voltage stabilisers at high-voltage side or low-voltage side of transformer substations to operate in volt-adding (volt-subtracting) mode consuming energy from transport grid (transmitting energy to transport grid) through voltage inverters and volt-adding transformers. Degree of power consumption or power transmission is provided by respective installation for lowering or increasing output voltage for communal substations.

EFFECT: reducing losses in joint urban power supply system, increasing service life of transformer substations and electric equipment installed at transport and improving conditions for control of urban electric railway, improving comfort of passenger transportation.
