FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: in making rocket engine housing, load-carrying shell is wound to make a cocoon by helical ring winding of bundles of aramide fibers. Thread is cut at cylindrical part ahead of rear removable bottom for connection with engine nozzle unit. Cocoon winding of duel helical layer features OD larger than thread ID and no larger thread mean diameter. Screw groove is made is zone of thread in aramide fibers its pitch making 1.4-1.6 of cocoon thread pitch at maximum tension of pre-twisted dry glass bundle of cross-section larger than one fourth of winding pitch and not larger than one half of said pitch. Continuous layers of impregnated glass bundle is wound over dry glass bundle at pitch equal to thread pitch to OD larger than thread OD. Glass bundle winding direction aligned with cocoon thread direction. Another invention of the set relates to rocket engine housing made of polymer composites. Housing comprises load-carrying cocoon-shaped shell with rear bottom composed of helical winding of aramide bundles impregnated with epoxy binder and nozzle unit secured to said shell by thread joint. Cocoon thread coils are composed of continuous glass fibers impregnated with epoxy binder and furnished with cuts of aramide fibers and glass fibers arranged above thread ID. Said cuts are produced by denting the grooves in aramide layer with subsequent thread cutting with partial cutting of said fibers. Said thread joint is locked by appropriate adhesive reinforced by aramide fiber friezes formed in said cutting.
EFFECT: better manufacturability.
