FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: metro escalator comprises frame stepped web with steps secured to carcass. Every step rests on two main and two auxiliary rollers that rest on and move over guides, said steeped web being connected with pull endless roller chains running over top pull sprocket and bottom tension sprocket. Device to catch stepped web at breakage of said chains serve to trap steeped web top run. Said devices are composed of L-like levers directed across escalator lengthwise axis and arranged on both sides of said web under main roller guides and articulated with aforesaid frame. Length of every lever section coupled with said articulation with frame is taken to exceed main running roller diameter while elevation of every hinge pin above the guide measured in perpendicular to guide bearing surface is taken to equal aforesaid section of said L-like lever.

EFFECT: higher reliability of catching broken web.
