FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fishing industry and can be used for intravital determining the age of sturgeons. The method comprises fixation of the fish under study and drilling of micro-core sample in the first arm of its pectoral fin perpendicular to its length. The micro-core sample is removed with a saw, and the hole in the body of the first arm is filled with substance providing antiseptics and healing the tissue. The micro-core sample extracted from the inner cylinder of the saw is placed in a transparent container with a fixing solution and is used for counting the number of annual rings.
EFFECT: invention provides the ability of obtaining data on the age of live fish, including the dynamics of their age-related changes in the same specimens.
