METHOD OF EVALUATING STATE OF ICHTHYOLOGICAL OBJECTS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: ichthyology, in particular, express evaluation of state of fish during lifelong mass inspection. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing group of fish withdrawn from fish-rearing pond, fish tank or natural pond for inspection into preliminarily prepared solution of blue trypan dye used in concentration of 250-500 mg/l; holding fish in solution for 1.5-2.0 min; removing fish into white bottom vessel filled with pure water; performing visual evaluation of nature of skin and/or gill color; considering specimens with nonuniform and/or very intensive uniform coloring as defective and adapted for subsequent ICHTHYOLOGICAL inspection; removing remaining fish of this group into solution of blue methylene dye used in concentration of 250-500 mg/l; repeating above mentioned operations. Only one of mentioned dyes may be used for evaluating the state of group of fish. Nonuniform skin and/or gill coloring and/or most intensive uniform coloring are acquired only by specimens in unfavorable state. EFFECT: increased efficiency by obtaining precise data.
