FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: flywheel of alternating moment of inertia comprises a shaft (1), on which a three-beam bracket (2) is rigidly fixed, and a drum (4) is installed with the possibility of rotation around the shaft. At the ends of the bracket with the possibility of rotation there are flywheel sectors (5) fixed, making it possible to accumulate kinetic energy. Ends of flywheel sectors are connected by ropes (6) with the drum. In the cavity formed by the shaft and the drum there is an accumulator of potential energy made in the form of a spring wound around the shaft, the ends of which are connected with the drum (4) and the three-beam bracket (2).

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce fuel consumption in a motor due to accumulator of energy in case of recuperative braking and further use of accumulated energy for a vehicle to start and accelerate.
