FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: laser range finder mounted in a valley determines the distance to an arbitrary control point A on a slope (L1), the probing angle (β1) and the azimuth of the projection of the laser beam on the horizontal plane. The distance (L2) and probing angle (β2) for a second arbitrary (auxiliary) point B lying at a certain distance AB from the control point A on the slope are determined by moving the probing beam vertically downwards. The projection of the section AB on the horizontal plane and the height of the control point A from the auxiliary point B on the slope are determined using the found values L1, L2, β1, and β2, from the ratio of the sides and the angles of geometric figures (triangles) formed in the vertical plane, passing on the probing line. Further, the projection on the horizontal plane of the normal to the slope at control point A and the angle between said projection and the projection on the horizontal plane of the section AB, which connects the control point A and the auxiliary point B on the slope, are determined. The gradient of the slope is then calculated using a calculation relationship.
EFFECT: high accuracy of remote measurement of the gradient of a slope in avalanche sites, low labour input.
