FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in precise die forging. Forged pieces are produced at temperatures corresponding to semi-hot and hot die forging. Semi-finished product is formed from heated initial metal workpiece. In finishing forging, at least one temporary ledge is made on at least one end surface adjoining billet side surface. Then, finishing forging is performed, wastes are removed, forged piece is heat treated and cleaned of scale. In finishing forging, said temporary ledge is deformed. Note here that forged piece metal that forms said ledge is displaced in forged piece body.
EFFECT: decreased metal input and labor input.
