SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of determining content, in a gaseous medium, of semi-volatile organic compounds such as polyaromatic hydrocarbons, carboxylic acids, alcohols, esters, n-alkanes- C_15-30. The method involves passing the gaseous medium through a sorbent containing at least one compound selected from MgO, CaO, CaCO₃, MgCO₃. The sorbent is then dissolved in a first aqueous solution with pH less than 7 to obtain a second aqueous solution. The semi-volatile compound in the second aqueous solution is then extracted with an organic solvent to obtain an extract. Content of the semi-volatile compound in the extract is determined using a suitable physical and chemical analysis method.

EFFECT: invention enables to determine content of organic compounds while reducing duration of sample preparation.
