FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method includes heating of a rail to temperature of austenitisation and subsequent multi-pass pressing in rolls with gauges. Exclusion of formation of defects such as "fold" in process of stocks handling is provided by the fact that heating of rails is carried out to 980-1250°C, during the first 2-3 passes the rail is pressed along height by 10-40% in universal four-roll gauges, at the same time between rolls facing the rail neck they set a gap, the value of which is by 2-5 mm more than thickness of the rail neck at the inlet to the appropriate gauge. Besides, pressing of the rail neck is carried out in rolls, on sides of which there are circular bores with depth of 5-8 mm with rounded shape of the profile, with alternation of position of circular bores along passes arranged at edges of the roll sides and in their centres.

EFFECT: higher yield of good section bars and shaped profiles produced by processing of rails removed from service by means of rolling.
