FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be applied in chemical industry. To obtain titanium diboride target average size of particles for titanium diboride product and quantity of sulphur based on target average size of particles are selected. Titanium diboride is obtained by carbo-thermal reaction with selected quantity of sulphur, present in mixture of precursors which contain titanium dioxide, boron oxide and/or boric acid and carbon source. Selected quantity of sulphur can be contained in carbon source. Mixture of precursors can be prepared by spray-type drying of suspension of titanium dioxide, boron oxide and/or boric acid and carbon source. Obtained titanium diboride has average size of particles corresponding to target average size of particles.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain titanium diboride with specified average size of particles for production of constructive elements and electrodes of electrolysers.
