FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions of polishing instrument with bound abrasive for final processing of nonmetallic materials, such as optical glass, crystalline materials, synthetic sapphire, silicon carbide, natural and artificial stones, etc. Composition of polishing instrument contains, wt.p. : caoutchouc, selected from butadiene-nitrile, or mixtures of butadiene-nitrile and butadiene-styrene, butadiene-nitrile and polyurethane, butadiene-nitrile and natural caoutchouc - 100, organic peroxide - 0.5-15.0, polishing powder - 300-800, inorganic or organic salt of alkali metal, selected from chloride or bromide of potassium or potassium phthalate - 10-50. As temporary plasticiser oligoetheracrylates are applied.
EFFECT: high indices of wear resistance, productivity and stability of polishing process, as well as obtaining processed surfaces with high geometric accuracy.
