SUBSTANCE: image decoding method is carried out by extracting information from a bit stream which indicates an internal prediction mode; and performing internal prediction over the current unit. The internal prediction includes: determining one of (i) a left-side neighbouring pixel of the first previous unit, neighbouring the left side of the current unit and decoded before the current unit, and (ii) an upper neighbouring pixel of the second previous unit neighbouring the upper side of the current unit and decoded before the current unit. The left-side neighbouring pixel is determined based on a shift operation as a division by 2, j*dy>>n, and the upper neighbouring pixel is determined based on a shift operation as a division by 2, i*dx>>m, where dx, dy, m and n are integers, and internal prediction is performed using either of the determined left-side neighbouring pixel or the upper neighbouring pixel. The current unit is obtained by hierarchical division of the maximum encoding unit based on depth information which indicates the number of times the maximum encoding unit is divided.
EFFECT: high efficiency of decoding video.
