FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ICEs. Proposed device serves to detect flow rate meter malfunction when deviation factor, i.e. deviation of estimated sucked air volume deviation relative to actual volume measured by air flow rate meter exceeds reference magnitude for determination of malfunction proceeding from ICE rpm. Proposed device defines normal operation of air flow rate meter when engine rpm exceeds or equals preset rpm provided the deviation is smaller than or equals reference value. It maintains, besides, the current result of determination when ICE rpm is smaller than predefined magnitude under particular conditions. This allows determination, proceeding engine rpm, if air flow rate meter operation is normal or is current result of determination is invariable.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of diagnostics.
