FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of internal combustion engines equipped with a circuit for partial recirculation of exhaust gases. Disclosed is a method of diagnosing faults of a system for partial recirculation of exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine of a diesel-type vehicle, wherein the internal combustion engine is equipped with a means of determining flow rate of incoming air. Method comprises steps of determining whether a predetermined value of incoming air is stable during a period of time stored in memory, if so, calculating integral criterion of diagnostics depending on specified value of flow rate of incoming air and from measured value of incoming air, then it is determined whether the value of the integrated diagnostic criterion exceeds the threshold, if so, a fault detection signal is sent in the system of partial recirculation of exhaust gases.
EFFECT: high efficiency of diagnosing faults of the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) of a diesel internal combustion engine.
