SYSTEM AND METHOD TO DETECT OUTGROWTH OF DEPOSITS IN ULTRASONIC FLOW METER AND MACHINE-READABLE INFORMATION MEDIUM Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G01F1/66

Abstract RU 2514071 C2

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to measurement equipment and in particular to the method and system for detection and tracking of deposits. The system to detect outgrowth of deposits in an ultrasonic flow meter includes an ultrasonic flow meter, a coupling, a pair of converters, fixed on the coupling. Besides, each pair of converters comprises a converter installed downstream, and a converter linked to it arranged upstream, and sets a chord stretching between them. Also the system comprises a group of electronic devices electrically connected with pairs of converters and made as capable of production of diagnostic data by means of acoustic signals transmitted by each pair of converters. At the same time the diagnostic data includes design speed of sound propagation via fluid medium for each pair of converters, and electronic devices are made as capable to detect outgrowth of deposits on the inner surface of the coupling on the basis of the difference of chord lengths and variation of speed of sound propagation via the fluid medium in time for pairs of converters. The method to detect outgrowth of deposits suggests detection of diagnostic data by means of acoustic signals, which are sent between each pair of converters of the ultrasonic flow meter. At the same time diagnostic data includes rated speed of sound propagation via the fluid medium flowing via the ultrasonic flow meter for each pair of converters, variation of sound propagation speed in time via the fluid medium for each of pairs of converters, difference of lengths of chords in pairs of converters, variation of the speed of sound propagation via the fluid medium.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurements.
