SUBSTANCE: invention relates to arc furnace operation and control. At least one electrode is used to initiate the arc for metal fusion. Note here that electric arc associated with at least one electrode features first radiation power based on the first selected set of working parameters. Arc furnace is operated in compliance with preset program base of expected process run. Note here that availability of undesirable deviation of actual process run from expected process run is controlled. If said deviation exists second radiation power is set. Proceeding from changed second radiation power defined is changed second set of working parameters, at least, one magnitude of impedance.

EFFECT: accelerated fusion, lower costs of furnace cooling.
