FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of obtaining glycidyl ether of branched monocarboxylic acid, which is used for manufacturing epoxy, acrylic polyether and alkyd resins directly or via intermediate products. Method includes interaction of aliphatic monocarboxylic acid of formula R1R2R3CCOOH, in which R1, R2 and R3 each independently stand for alkyl radical of normal or branched structure, containing 1-20 carbon atoms, and epoxy alkyl halide, containing 3-13 carbon atoms, in presence of catalyst, in which epoxy alkyl halide is involved in binding reaction with monocarboxylic acid to form intermediate reaction product, which contains halohydrin, with molar ratio of epoxy alkyl halide and monocarboxylic acid from more than 1 to not more than 1.5, under conditions of absence of any additional solvent; epoxy alkyl halide is added to monocarboxylic acid with proper cooling, where epoxy alkyl halide and monocarboxylic acid interact at temperature not lower than 80°C to reduce amount of acid to the level not higher than 2 wt %, but not lower than 0.1 wt %, counted per the initial amount of monocarboxylic acid, entire excess of epoxy alkyl halide is optionally removed from reaction product before cycle closing reaction, reaction product is subjected to cycle closing reaction and, optionally, to further processing to remove all remaining halogen-containing functional groups.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to obtain target product with purity higher than 93,5% and output higher than 95%.
