Surgical approach and packing system devices have one or more packing valves and assemblies to form a close system between the ambient environment and a medium wherein the surgical approach device is immersed. What is provided is the packing assembly that can comprise a packing with a hole. The hole is formed to place the surgical instrument and a fluid remover through it in the form of an absorbent element, a scraper element, and a diverter element. Any combination thereof can be coupled with the packing and formed to remove the fluid from the hole and/or surgical instrument.
