SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for storing spent nuclear fuel (SNF), and can be used in "dry" storage, as well as in the shielding chambers of storage of SNF and atomic power plants. Mechanism of installation and holding the cover of holder for storage of spent nuclear fuel comprises a grip which drive is made in the form of internal gears, pivot arms and stops, limiting the angle of rotation of the driver pinion, a lift sleeve equipped with fingers, connecting it with the driver pinion and entering the corresponding holes of the grip housing, and a coupling key. At the upper part, the grip housing is attached to the sleeve with the inner collar, which is identical in shape and size in the upper part to the ampoule cover. The grip of the electromechanical non-master/slave bridge-mounted manipulator is inserted into the sleeve, and for holding the cover, the coupling key and the grip the rack is mounted.

EFFECT: ability to repair the mechanism or use for removal and placing the cover on the holder of the second bridge-mounted manipulator.
