FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of deactivating a semi-persistent resource (SPS) allocation of user equipment in a long term evolution (LTE) based mobile communication system. A combination of a new data index (NDI) value and a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) index that is commanding the release of SPS resources is defined. Alternatively, another solution includes defining a special transport block size that, when signalled in a PDCCH, is commanding the release of SPS resources.
EFFECT: providing a mechanism for deactivating a semi-persistent resource allocation in a LTE system which does not require any changes to the physical layer-to-media access control (MAC) layer interface and/or preferably no changes to physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) formats.
