FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to identify target substance in the examined area. A sensor device (100) includes a sensor surface (112) with examined area (113) and control area (120) as well as a control element (121) set in the control area (121). The control element (121) is adapted to protect the control area (120) from the target substance (2) so that, provided with total internal reflection, the light reflected in the control area (120) remains uninfluenced due to the presence or absence of the target substance (2).
EFFECT: device allows for measuring a property, usually light intensity, reflected to the control area (120) regardless of the presence or absence of the target substance (2) which can be used to perform improved correction of light reflected in the examined area (113).
