FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for high-accuracy determination of level of the liquid contained in any reservoir. The method consists in the fact that electromagnetic waves frequency-modulated as per a linear law are emitted towards the liquid surface normally to it; reflected electromagnetic waves are received; then, a signal of beats at the mixer outlet between incident and reflected waves is determined; direct continuous wavelet-conversion of the beat signal is performed during the manipulation period; points of local extreme values are determined in the obtained wavelet-spectrum of the beat signal and extrapolated by a straight line; an intersection point of this line with the y-axis of scale coefficients is found, and difference frequency, according to which level of liquid in the reservoir is assessed, is determined as per the obtained coefficient by means of a conversion function built for the used wavelet.
EFFECT: improving measurement accuracy of liquid level in reservoirs.
