FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used to high-accurately determination of level of the liquid contained in any reservoir. Toward fluid surface along normal line to it frequency-modulated by linear law electromagnetic waves are emitted, the first differential frequency signal is selected at mixer output between the incident and reflected electromagnetic waves, in addition to this, a second differential frequency signal is selected at the second mixer output between the incident electromagnetic waves and the reflected waves shifted in phase by an angle π/4, the cross-correlation function between these signals and the time shift corresponding to its maximum is calculated, the level of the liquid in the tank is determined.

EFFECT: increasing accuracy in proposed method of measuring liquid level in reservoir.
