FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: photons resulting from conversion of surface plasmon polaritons, caused by penetrating radiation, are detected at the wedge-shaped edge of the plate of the working body of the detector.
EFFECT: enabling use in a wide range of applications of detecting high-power penetrating radiations, particularly in reactor cores of atomic power stations.
