FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises partially or completely transparent tore-shaped channel with feed and discharge valve fitted on the shaft with drive, brake, moment transducer and Doppler rpm transducer. Tested medium is pre-forced onto said tore. Then said tore is accelerated smoothly and abruptly stopped. Parameters of the medium inertial braking displacement are measured at stopped tore. Device design provides for identical hydrostatic pressure over the channel length. Measurement of torque at fixed tore rules out the influence of friction of tore support bearings, increasing viscosity measurement accuracy.
EFFECT: accurate viscosity determination for media with complex rheological properties depending on shear rate, pressure and temperature.
