FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for refining molten aluminium or its alloys from metal impurities. The device contains at least one porous removable diaphragm, permeable to the electrolyte and impermeable to the molten aluminium alloy with impurities and molten refined aluminium, filled with electrolyte, into which the cathode is vertically loaded and which is immersed in the molten aluminium alloy with metal impurities, placed in a container lined refractory materials and having an anode current supply. Drainage channels are made in the bottom part of the cathode, or in the walls of the cathode, or in the mount and cover. Drainage channels are located at the level of the electrolyte melt mirror to remove cathode aluminium from the porous diaphragm container into the collection tank.

EFFECT: invention improves productivity and the ability to replenish and adjust the composition of the electrolyte.
