FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates on the whole to the systems of turning rollers to hold and rotate cylindrical tanks. Such turning roller systems are usually used in the course of welding operations. In particular, the invention refers to a device for displacement prevention and a method to prevent the axial movement (axial displacement, also known as axial creep) of a tank being held or other processed unit at its rotation. The turning roller system (10) to rotate a cylindrical processed unit around the processed unit axis comprises a pair of supporting rollers (26) interacting with a pair of drive rollers (18) to hold the processed unit. For the purpose of preventing the axial displacement of the processed unit each roller 926) is pivotally installed on the respective idler axis (28) so that the rotation axis (48) of the supporting roller (26) is oriented at an angle to the rotation axis (34) of the idler axis (28). The axes (28) can rotate around their respective rotation axes to adjust the orientation of the axes (48) in respect to the processed unit for the purpose of applying the axially directed force component affecting the processed unit to prevent the axial displacement. The rotation of the axes (28) can be automatically controlled basing on the signal generated by a displacement sensor (36) used to determine the axial displacement of the processed unit.

EFFECT: creation of an improved device which is mechanically simpler and more efficient.
