SUBSTANCE: density of flux of gamma rays scattered on electrons of atoms of the material in the interaction of flow of the primary gamma-ray of the source of ionisation radiation with soil material is detected and registered, and soil density is determined by the registered density of gamma-ray flow, and the detector and gamma-ray source is previously removed from the soil surface to a distance at which in the whole measurement range of the surface density there is a direct (increasing) dependence between the registered by the detector intensity of the radiation scattered by soil of gamma-source and surface density of the controlled soil and, simultaneously, the surface density measurement error due to relief heterogeneity of heterogeneous soil has allowable value.

EFFECT: improved accuracy in measurement of the surface density of predominantly heterogeneous soils.
