FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes preparing a solution of a binding agent in an intermediate solvent, preparing components, mixing the mass, preparing granules with size of 1-1.6 mm from the mass, moulding a weighted portion of the prepared granules with vibration compaction in process equipment or housing of a gas generator, hardening the element in two steps with evacuation at the second step and pressing out the element. The method is characterised by that hardening at the first step is carried out by blowing air or an inert gas whose temperature is 5-10 degrees below the boiling point of the intermediate solvent, with constant flow rate through filters with given gas permeability, mounted on free surfaces of the element, and the body of the element.
EFFECT: invention enables to control the process of forming gas permeability in the body of a gas-generating element in the hardening process in order to improve reproducibility of the parameters thereof while maintaining porosity and strength of the gas-generating element, and temperature of the generated gas during operation of the gas generator at the prototype level.
