FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of converting methane includes reacting methane with steam on a nickel-containing catalyst. The catalyst used is molten nickel-containing copper with nickel content of up to 3%, through which the vapour-gas mixture is blown for 0.5-1.2 s at melt temperature of 1250-1400°C.
EFFECT: invention prevents coking of the nickel-based catalyst.
