FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: electrical characteristic under investigation is measured in a selected series of points by monitoring temperature using a temperature sensor during the measurement process. A reference point is selected from the selected series of points near the maximum current or voltage value at initial temperature. Current or voltage is successively measured for each next point, while returning to the reference point each time thereafter. Thermal stabilisation is carried out as follows: after returning to the reference point, relative change in temperature of the photodiode is determined by estimating the shift of the reference point from the original position for a constant current or voltage value, wherein the photodiode under investigation is used as the temperature sensor and the control element for thermal stabilisation; the reference point is returned to the original position by changing temperature of the photodiode.
EFFECT: high accuracy of the measured electrical characteristic of a photodiode.
