FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method is proposed to measure angular movements by a laser gyroscope, including tuning and operation of the laser gyroscope in a two-frequency mode on one of orthogonally polarised modes of a circular laser of the laser gyroscope, development of a frequency pedestal with the help of magnetic field, identification of information on angular movements from information arriving from the circular laser, periodical alternate operation of the circular laser in the two-frequency mode with orthogonal polarisations of the circular laser, switching of the circular laser to the mode of orthogonal polarisation after each subsequent moment of completion of operation of the circular laser on any of these modes. At the same time they previously measure and/or calculate for modes with orthogonal polarisations the dependence of pedestal frequency on value of voltage change on a piezohead, specified by detune of the perimeter of the circular laser resonator, relative to the voltage of the perimeter corresponding to tuning of the regulation system to the centre of the appropriate mode. During each alternate switching in process of measurements of angular movements in selected intervals of time of this switching they measure dependence of voltage variation value on the piezohead on time relative to the value of the voltage for the appropriate mode to start of this switching and for the mode for orthogonal polarisation relative to the value of voltage after this switching, for each selected interval of time they calculate and take into account the errors specified by variation of the value of the pedestal frequency due to detune of the circular laser resonator perimeter during switching of polarisation, using previously measured and/or calculated dependence of the pedestal frequency on the value of voltage variation on the piezohead specified by the detune of the circular laser resonator, relative to the voltage of the perimeter corresponding to detune of the regulation system to the centre of the appropriate mode and dependence of the voltage variation value dependence measured for the same mode at this switching on the piezohead on time in the same selected interval of time of this switching relative to the appropriate value of voltage for the same mode before or after this switching.

EFFECT: reduced number of errors in measurements of angular movements due to reduced time of invalid collection of information in process of polarisation switching.
