FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises heating of the bottom composed of cathode blocks with cathode collector bars, electrically conducting material, placing of sintered anodes thereat, connection of sintered anode holders with electrolytic cell jumper anode buses. Electric current is fed through electrically conducting material and sintered anode current load is adjusted. Said electrically conducting material represents a bulk graphite material of fraction not over 2 mm arranged in rows of truncated pyramid located in projection of nipples over the entire length of sintered anode. Height of every row is set to 10-100 mm in reverse proportion to fed current strength making 500 kA to 100 Ka. All anode holders are connected with electrolytic cell jumper anode buses by flexible elements.
EFFECT: longer life.
