SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used in mobile communication systems. The radio communication system includes a portable radio station and a mobile radio station, the portable radio station being configured to remotely control the mobile radio station. The portable radio station operates in a standalone mode, in which the mobile radio station communicates with other radio communication devices using the radio interface of the portable radio station. The portable radio station also operates in a remote mode, in which the portable radio station operates to establish a wireless link between the portable radio station and the mobile radio station so as to remotely control the mobile radio station and use the radio interface of the mobile radio station to communicate with other radio communication devices.
