FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication means in which information is transferred using surface electromagnetic waves, more precisely surface plasmon-polaritons in the terahertz (THz) range, directed by the flat surface of a conducting substrate, and can be used in plasmon-based communication networks and in information collection and processing devices using THz electromagnetic waves. The method includes arranging non-uniformities; forming channels on separate substrates; the faces of all substrates are rectangular; the non-uniformities used are the edges of the substrates directed perpendicular to the track of the initial surface plasmon-polariton (SPP); using said edge to convert the SPP into a volume wave which is divided into a series of spaced-apart secondary volume waves, the number of which is not less than the number of secondary channels, in each of which corresponding to the volume wave, a derivative of the initial SPP is generated using the edge of the substrate.
EFFECT: rapid interfacing of main and secondary plasmon links.
