SUBSTANCE: method of measuring beam characteristics of an active/passive phased antenna array includes generating a signal at the input of either a receiving or transmitting channel and processing the received signals. To enable measurement of characteristics of active and passive phased antenna arrays without working with open radiation, the present method includes processing received signals by measuring the transfer constant and the phase of the transfer constant of each receiving and transmitting channel of the active/passive phased antenna array and recording the measurement results. The method further includes converting the transfer constant into a signal amplitude, determining the signal amplitude and phase measurement errors, determining N amplitude-phase distributions based on the measurement errors, constructing N beam patterns, determining beam characteristics of the active/passive phased antenna array.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring directional characteristics of passive and active phased antenna arrays in signal reception and transmission operating modes.
